Extramedullary Plasmacytoma of Maxillary Antrum.

Extramedullary plasmacytoma (EMP) represents approximately 3% of all plasma cell neoplasms.With an idea to heighlight its diagnosis,treatment modalties, we report a case of extramedullary plasmacytoma in a 52 years old male patient.

Chondrosarcoma of the Maxilla-Recurrent.

An uncommon case of recurrent chondrosarcoma of the maxilla is presented. A brief discussion on the radiologic and histologic presentation of the tumor and the treatment modalities of this unusual tumor is discussed.

Sino-Nasal Hemangiopericytoma

Hemangiopericytoma is an uncommon vascular tumor derived from pericytes of Zimmermann, representing only a small portion of head and neck tumors, mostly occurring in the sino-nasal tract. A rare case of sinonasal hemangiopericytoma in a 52 year female presenting with symptoms of nasal abstruction and epistaxis and its treatment modalities are discussed in the present case report.

Foreign Body in the Wharton’s Duct

A case of unusual presentation of a vegetative foreign body in the Wharton’s duct is reported. The patient presented with history and clinical findings of recurrent left submandibular sialadenitis. Surgical excision of the submandibular gland was performed and during the ligation of the Wharton’s duct, a wooden splinter was found inside the lumen of the duct. Retrospectively, patient gave the history of ingestion of the same wooden splinter, lodging in the Wharton’s duct and subsequently causing recurrent attack of sialadenitis.

Osteogenic Sarcoma of Lower Jaw

A rare case of osteogenic sarcoma affecting the lower jaw is presented. Osteogenic sarcoma of the jaw is a very rare tumor of the head and neck comprising less than 0.5% of all malignant tumors of head and neck. Pertinent literature is reviewed to emphasize the various treatment modalities and histopathological features for diagnosis of this rare tumour.

Pattern of ENT Cancers in a Rural Based Hospital of J&K

A total of 40 cases of total body cancer (TBC) reported at District Hospital. Doda between 1st January, 2002 to 31st December, 2002. ENT cancers comprised 23 (57.5%) cases. Carcinoma of the oesophagus was the commonest cancer amongst TBC comprising of 7 (17.5%) cases followed by carcinoma breast and thyroid comprising of 5 (12.5%) cases each, carcinoma of skin and lymphoma comprising of 4 (10%) cases each. Commonest age group involved was 4060 years. ENT cancers constituted the major burden of TBC in District Doda.
